After years inside tendering and the procurement lifecycle, our founder saw businesses with passion, integrity and real impact struggle to navigate complex, high pressure bidding. It wasn’t fair, and it wasn’t necessary.

So BFV was created to level the playing field.

Founder, Owner & Principal Consultant

That’s me, Dom for short (and if you call me Dominic, I know I’m in trouble!).

Before all the business talk, I’m first and foremost a family man. I’ve been happily married for over 15 years to my wonderful wife Debs, who proudly works in the SEND world, and I’m a very proud dad to our daughter Imogen, who’s horse mad and currently navigating secondary school life. 

As for me, I’m a regular at the Northwest “Theatre of Dreams” Bolton Wanderers (although I’m a born and bred Londoner, so clearly an Hammers fan - yes, someone has to be) and a keen photographer in whatever spare time I can find.
 

Why I Started BFV

I’m the Founder and Principal Consultant of Beyond Face Value, bringing over 20 years of hands-on experience as a bid and programme specialist. My career has been dedicated to one thing: helping organisations secure complex, high stakes contracts and deliver successful programmes in some of the most demanding regulated sectors, including Defence, Nuclear, and Aerospace.

I started BFV because I saw the same pattern everywhere: technically brilliant SMEs losing tenders they should have won, not because they couldn’t deliver, but because the bidding process let them down. I wanted to fix that.

Where This Experience Comes From?

My expertise has been built inside some of the UK’s leading organisations, including MBDA (Missile Systems), BAE Systems, Thales, Assystem Energy & Infrastructure and formerly James Fisher Nuclear.

Through these roles, I’ve built a proven track record of winning high-value contracts with some of the world’s most demanding clients:

  • Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S)
  • Major international export customers across the US, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), and Europe
  • EDF (UK), Rolls Royce, and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) including Sellafield Ltd
  • Crown Commercial Services (CCS) framework awards
  • Government agencies - such as, UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA)

This breadth of experience has given me a deep understanding of complex procurement environments and the ability to navigate competitive landscapes and deliver measurable results across multiple markets.
